Abstract

MechatronicsAndRobotics The institute performs leading edge research in the area of software-driven mechatronics and robotics. The focus lies on transferring software engineering methods and tools to the mechatronics domain, such as using modern programming platforms for industrial robots. One important research artifact ist he Robotics API Development Platform, a software architecture for controlling robot arms as well as ground and aerial robots with real-time guarantees. Two research labs equipped with high-end hardware and software give room for a variety of experiments. The institute is a member of the Bavarian initiative “Cluster Mechatronik & Automation”. Project partners include KUKA Laboratories GmbH, MRK-Systeme GmbH, the German Aerospace Center as well as the aerospace companies Premium Aerotec and Airbus Helicopters.
